Jonah Backus - Songwriter, Lead Singer

"Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." Col 3:16

Jonah's music ministry began at age six when his father brought him home his first guitar. With help from his father and uncles he became an experienced guitarist. Growing up, Jonah was exposed to a variety of music through family, friends, and his own exploration. It was during this period of time that he discovered his favorite band, "U2", which was introduced to him by his father. It was this band that moved Jonah to delve into different styles of guitar, especially christian contemporary.

As Jonah became more experienced he began to perform songs from his favorite christian bands during church services. The more he played the more he realized his love for sharing the gospel through his musical talents. In 2013 Jonah's grandma, who had been one of his greatest supporters, died of brain cancer. After finding peace in the assurances of God's word, Jonah was inspired to write his first song, "Day of Glory."

Since then Jonah has continued to write music and is currently enrolled at Martin Luther College where he is studying to become a pastor. Jonah wishes to use his knowledge of music and God's Word to share the gospel in order to strengthen the faith of those who have heard, and to plant the seed of faith in the hearts of those who have not.
